Farewell My Friend You're Killing Me

Wow, when I think back and count the years, I’ve had a nasty smoking habit for over 35 of them. I never thought I would keep this up so long; especially after learning of the dangers—but I have.

So here it is, my final goodbye letter to tobacco cigarettes.

When I was not popular, you helped make me cool. But smoking real cigs is not cool anymore. Back when I started this dirty habit and my faithfulness to you, I sat in my physician’s office and shared a cigarette with him as we discussed remedies for the consistent cough I was experiencing. Inside the movie theatres the air was so thick with smoke at times you could barely make out the screen. Our TV’s were blaring with a cartoon camel, famous celebrities, and the Marlboro Man who all glamorized your quiet demonic intentions.

You “hooked” me and then just as soon as I began to love and enjoy your presence, I was told to get away from you. You’re bad for me—a killer indeed. But wait; I can’t. It seemed then you had your venom inside me, a tool to keep me faithful; until death do us part.

So time went on and I remained faithful to you. Sure, I’ve tolerated the hounding of well meaning friends and strangers on the street quoting the words they must think I don’t already know, and of course no one probably ever said them to me before…, “you should quit smoking.” Words which just make me feel a little less human, less smart, less clean, and more of an outcast than a person who is cool and popular.

I’ve of course tried the patch, the pills, hypnosis, and the cold turkey methods without success. You really have me hooked like no other. As a matter of fact, I even like you now; I no longer want to leave you. So I’ve been hiding my affair with you from others. Sometimes I wait until we are alone, then I will sneak a couple drags to satisfy my urge to be “one with you.” But I think it’s time to let you go ciggy.

So smokies, goodbye. You are now being replaced. This habit shall be fulfilled without you and the danger you pose to me. My hair will smell better, my lungs will again be filled with fresh air, and my energy level will return.

Thank you ciggy for years of pleasure and attempted suicide.

Tips to using an Electric Cigarette

The e-cigarette is actually a more pleasant experience than a tobacco smoke when used properly. Follow these tips to ensure a satisfying experience.

-Always make sure you use a fully charged battery

-Use plenty of smoke juice (but don’t overfill)

-Have more than one on hand at all times (in case one runs out of juice or the battery goes low or dead)

-Start a new juice cartridge with a few quick puffs (to get the juices rolling)

-Take long slow drags

-If and when it begins to lose flavor or taste a little burnt, re-fill or change the juice cartridge

-When the e-cigarette begins to produce less smoke vapor, charge the battery
I actually have four e-cigarettes myself. I keep two on hand with me every day, and two on chargers. That way, I always have a backup of fully charged electric cigarettes. Then I refill all the cartridges every other day (takes me 2 minutes).

Welcome to the new Smoke E Blog!

Normally, I’m the Author 101 online, but I'm here on this new Blog because I would like to share with you all I've learned about these new e-cigarettes you may have heard about. They’ve saved my life and kept me cool! Read on!

How Does an E- (Electronic) Cigarette Work?

Okay, so you ask, how does this e-cigarette work? Well, electric cigarettes are a three-part unit comprised of a battery, vaporizer and mouthpiece. The specially designed, rechargeable battery powers the vaporizer which draws a smoke like vapor from a cartridge hidden within the mouthpiece when you take a puff. It’s so cool because it mimics a real cigarette to the T without any of the harmful effects.

The cartridge is full of a special juice which may or may not contain nicotine, depending on your preference. If you’re trying to quit smoking, you can use a cartridge with nicotine to deliver it straight to your blood stream when you inhale, giving you instant relief from cravings.

The vapor (smoke) that comes out of the e-cigarette is harmless to those around you and really has no annoying odor. In fact, to me, it’s a better smoke than a tobacco cigarette. I like that there are no more dirty ashtrays, no seat burns in my car (or on me), and when I’m satisfied with my smoke, I just tuck in my pocket for the next go-round.

I suggest refilling the cartridges yourself when they’re used up—it’s super easy and fast. I also liked the natural smoke juice the best. These things have really saved my life (read my farewell letter to tobacco cigarettes below).

If you're ready to try an e-cigarette, there are numerous reliable companies who sell them. I have listed the logo ads for several of these to the right side of this Blog page, just click on and see if you like what they offer. E-Cigs run about $60 and I strongly recommend you buy at least two to start (have a charged one always available).
